To quote Marcus Garvey, “God and Nature first made us what we are, and then out of our own created genius we make ourselves what we want to be. Follow always that great law. Let the sky and God be our limit and Eternity our measurement.”
We make our selves every day, the question is, are we making ourselves what we want to be or... whatever? If we do not make a conscience effort to create ourselves we get to become whatever the environment around us dictates. Their really are only two paths, to lead or to follow. We have been given the blessing of creating our selves to become persons of greatness. We have the ability to create a dream and then follow it. But that also gives us the responsibility of finding our talents, creating a dream, following that dream, and overcoming the (perceived?) obstacles that dot the path. It is also our responsibility to help others to find and follow their path. I think that a purpose of social clubs, other fraternal organizations and even church groups are in part to keep us focused on where we are going. Every time we get together we see what we can become and help others to move in the direction. We can live, love, laugh and be happy, but live responsibly.
