Looking for Love

Have you ever heard the song "Looking for Love in all the wrong places”? That is an interesting thing to think about isn't it? If your looking for love in the wrong places, where is the right place to look for love?

Is their even a right place to look for love? I guess that we first have to define what we are looking for. First think of the type of love we develop with other people. Are we are looking for true love, or are we looking for something else? Many people would say that they are pursuing true love, but some don't understand what that means. Others are looking for a relationship they call "love". Don't ask them what that means, they may not even know. Hollywood seems to defines love as an intimate relationship, even if temporary
Most major religions, that talk about love, talk about giving, caring, commitment, service and sacrifice. But some think of love as the warm fuzzy feeling they get when they are with that special someone. Older people may find love to be a much deeper feeling of connection and comfort with the one they love.
Love could also be defined, on a broader perspective, as a connection with everything in the universe, a connection with God. That kind of connection is the most deep and long lasting. In my humble opinion, that is a key to other types of love.
But where do you find that love? You have to look in the right place to find that kind of love. It won't be found if you are looking in the wrong places. Werner Erhard said, “You don't have to go looking for love when it's where you come from.” But where did you come from? If you believe in God then we came from His love. We came from the love of or parents. But the real you comes from the love of self.
If you want to find more than a temporary warm and fuzzy feeling , than you must love your self. We can care for others, we can care for the environment, we can even care so much we sacrifice all we have for something else, but to really love anything we must search inside ourselves and find that deep love of giving, caring, commitment, service and sacrifice.
